Big deal, in Chelm back in the old days, they used to buy a young Madchen when she was three or four years old, she would be bought on Kontrakt to be married when she turned 12, this was happening in the shtetls of Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Russian and Eastern Hungary right up until the 1890’s in some places right up until the First World War.

So please tell me the differences compared to an arranged marriage where the couple meet for 15 minutes and the next time is under the chuppah?
In the abduction, the male is at least attracted to the female and they too probably have similar backgrounds and philosophies etc.

I was obviously not saying they are the same. So besides the screaming hoarsemen, is there any difference? I don’t think a lot of Chareidim have a choice. What do they know at 17 after 15 minutes (or however long they are given)? You think they are going to say no? It would be interesting to know what percentage say no. So no, I don’t think many of them have a choice.
