This awe inspiring photo (hat tip mad) shows you can be very frum and ‘as holy’ as those who refuse to enlist. This is a milchemes mitzvah unless you practice a heathen religion related to Judaism as per Neturei Karta and their supporters, and the holy Litvaks who don’t follow Torah by defending Am Yisroel Lefi Pshuto shel Halocho Mefureshes ….
THESE guys are holy. They are our heroes and Shluchei HaKadosh Baruch Hu kipshuto
May they all come back healthy and all those who are injured should recover כהרף עין
I think that you are missing the point.
The deliberation is whether it is Milchemet Reshut or Milchemet Mitwah LIGHT (a term not mentioned in the Bible or by Chazal, but very convenient for the Mishtamtim). It will take some time to come to a conclusion. We do not have to rush, as it surely is not a Milchemet Mitzwah to which even a KALA YOTZET MECHUPATA. We never adopted Moshe’s saying: Ha’Achechem Yavou Lamilchama v’Atem Teshvu Po.
We shall wait and see if Hamas is going to invade on Rosh Hashana and make the days real YAMIM NORAIM. For the time being we adopt: MLACHTO NA’ASET AL YDE ACHERIM.

Really Meme? Not a Milchemet Mitzvah? Shall I translate the following Rambam for you?
ואיזו היא מלחמת מצוה–זו מלחמת שבעה עממים, ומלחמת עמלק, ועזרת ישראל מצר שבא עליהם
(הלכות מלכים ומלחמות פרק ה)
