In this article, I asked how it was possible for a woman to fake claim that her 5-year-old was raped and then withdraw the charge. Complicating matters was the apparent refusal of Charedi Medical offices to cooperate.
It turns out now that the Police do believe that the woman was lying. One can only presume she has psychological problems herself and needs treatment. That being said, surely this is yet another reason the Charedi community should not fear police investigations, and makes a mockery of their decision to stay mum and not assist the police with their inquiries!
It is unlikely, but possible, that she was somehow pressured into saying this.

The police wouldn’t have let go I suspect; not with something that serious. You’d need some corroborating physical evidence.

“Surely this is yet another reason the Charedi community should not fear police investigations”.
there is a famous saying (in the name of a Russian Zionist leader): “it is easier to take the Jew out of Galut than to take Galut out of the Jew”, Another similar saying is: ”you can free slaves from slavery but you can’t free a slave from the slave mentality.”
you can’t expect people that were told for hundreds of years “don’t talk to a policemen”, to start talking to him because of one story.

What mother? I don’t understand from which news report you ever got the idea that there was a mother involved. There was no mother and no daughter. All there ever was was a woman telling the police that some unnamed girl, not her daughter, had been raped and it was being covered up. She wouldn’t tell them who this girl was.
