I've enjoyed being a computer science professor in Melbourne, Australia, as well as band leader/singer for the Schnapps Band. My high schooling was in Chabad and I continued at Yeshivat Kerem B'Yavneh in Israel and later in life at Machon L'Hora'ah, Yeshivas Halichos Olam. View all posts by pitputim
Rabbi Shalom Ber Engel once related a story from when he was a bochur studying in Oholei Torah. There was a farbrengen with a chassid who had just came from Russia. The Chassid asked the bochurim “zog mir an americanisher niggin” but nobody knew of any American chassidisher niggun. Until one bochur starter singing “Mary had a little lamb” similar to this video, every body sang along. When they fibishedbthey broke the news to the chossid.

The tune of “mary had a little lamb”, is the same nigun as “Ashrei adam ozleh boch”, sung in many chassidic circles.
